OUR PRICES REFLECT OUR
COMMITMENT TO BE BEST PROVIDER OF EQUIPMENT AND SERVICES IN THE BUSINESS. WE ARE
THE PREMIER GENERATOR DEALER AND THE MOST EXPERIENCED ELECTRICAL, GAS-PIPING AND
INSTALLATION TEAM IN THE AREA.
The total price of an installed generator set depends on:
- Size of generator which is a function of what you wish to run in your house during the power outage;
- Ease of connection to fuel source;
- Whether natural gas, propane or diesel;
- Complexity of electrical connection;
- Sitting to meet setback requirements and ease of installation;
- Amount of trenching required;
- Need for noise attenuating enclosure; landscaping and screening.
There are basically two approaches to
sizing a home generator:
1. Whole House Coverage - This involves a generator large enough
to power all your electric needs as if there were no interruption of power; or
2. Select Circuits - This involves a generator sized to power only
those circuits you feel you need when the power goes off. For many people, these
are:
(a.) HEAT, so you and your pipes don't freeze; (b) sump pumps, well pumps, and
septic pumps; (c) refrigerators and freezers; (d) hot water heater; (e) medical
equipment; (f) security systems and safety equipment; (g) home office circuits
for computers and business needs; (h) lights and outlets in key rooms such as
kitchen, family room, bedrooms and baths, etc.
Other circuits may be deemed necessary depending on a family's needs, such as
air conditioning for allergies or convenience, garage door openers, media rooms,
etc.
Whole House Coverage for larger
houses or houses with electric heat and large electric requirements usually
dictate generators that provide from 35,000 to 60,000 watts. Whole house
generators fully installed with all permits and inspections, warranties, sound
attenuating enclosures and all necessary features range upwards from $25,000.
Select Circuit Generators are provided in sizes of 12,000 watts
(12kW), 15,000 watts (15kW) to 20,000 watts (20kW). These sizes of generators,
fully installed, cost slightly more than $1,000 per thousand watts (kW). Thus a 12 kW
generator which will run some select circuits costs in the area of $12,000 -
$13,000,
depending on the difficulty of hookups and sitting.
